Boys lost interest in Gabby and Gertrude faster than a game of spin-the-bottle with a headless statue of Isis. The two were wandering aimlessly up and down alleyways, contemplating what to do about it when they saw the ancient Egyptian symbol of femininity. The attraction and exotic of ancient Egypt were exactly what they needed to revitalize their auras and keep the boys intrigued. Something like that would hold thousands of years, when all they wanted was to live happily ever after for a few months. Fingertips extended, each lay a hand on the glistening gold overlay. The surge of mystery into their blood was immediate. They felt it. One look into their eyes and the power of the Ankh would surge forth and electrify the beholder. One touch from them would tingle the imagination with visions of Cleopatra and Nefertiti. It would be fun with the boys now. They walked on to the pick-up bar, never suspecting that the monument was only two months old and made in China.

Take your talismans where you find them. Isis could have been made from melted-down Buddahs, thus if you rubbed her (I dunno, somewhere) she might bring you good luck.

Or maybe the issue was that they were using real dung beetles rather than artisan-crafted golden scarabs. That'll put the guys off in a heartbeat. Or possibly they had confused the guys -- the ones who couldn't tell Isis the goddess from Cleopatra the queen with the nice asp.

Retarius! Say you didn't delete your blog! Come back Retarius! Please!

Sad to say it looks like Retarius deleted his blog. Retarius: if you do start again somewhere, please let me know somehow. I was looking at this post about the Hindenburg crashing when your comment notification rolled in:

It's all power of suggestion. My suggestion is that if they'd like more time with the boys, they revamp their style. I see them and words like 'swell' and 'super' come to mind.

Perhaps if I lay my hands upon said monument Retarius will come back? Please?

Just the power of their belief that they have this new irresistable attractiveness will probably make it true. When we women think we're ugly, we exude that, but when we think we're mighty fine, we walk differently and exude attractive confidence.

Loved the story, as always.

Livewire: It's going to be hard doing without Retarius's posts. I'll touch any statue if it'll bring him back. I don't know how this will resolve for the girls. Maybe they'll meet some guy who does an impersonation of Steve Martin singing "King Tut."

Jamie: You told me you would stop liking these some day. What's going on?

Courtney: But even the ancient Egyptions did know the power of Courtney!

Alix: You don't need a statue.

Quincy: Glad you liked this one. You'll probably enjoy this one, too: Story #46
