ReplyDeleteOh boy !! That sets me back 12 years ago, I went to see my dad in New Orleans and I staid there 2 months and every morning I rushed to this coffee house on Bourbon St. to get my belly full of pancakes and Aunt Jemima's syrup.

I always did the same before I had the recipe. Everytime back home I had breakfast at the breakfast restaurants. Hope you enjoy the pancakes!

I tried to bake them several times but its a waste of time without a non-sticking pan. :(
I think the French would kill you if they heard you call their crepes pancakes. Contrary to popular belief, the French are anything but pacifists. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think the difference is that they're thinner. The American pancakes can get quite thick/puffy. The Netherlands have quite a few Pannekoeken restaurants, with similar thin pancakes but prepared in a variety of ways. Those were always delicious.
No IHOP in Europe? We need to convert these people. Maybe Ahmish missionaries?
ReplyDeleteProgress is slow, Doug. But they have McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks and Wal-Mart. I'd trade McDonalds and Wal-Mart for an Ihop.

ReplyDeleteNot much Puerto Rican food in Germany. A few Spanish restaurants and maybe Mexican or Argentinian, but that's it.
